BabelZ – Translation Widgets WordPress Plugin
February 24th, 2009 - Ryan ChristensonBabelZ provides three translator widgets, one Google translate widget and two Yahoo Babel Fish widgets that you can add to your WordPress sidebar. Settings can be edited from the admin settings menu or directly from the widget settings. Google Translate comes with richer options such as pick and choose which languages you would like to offer for translation.

All I ask is that you credit this plugin (i.e. include a link to this page or maybe add a link to your WordPress Blogroll).
With that said, I would love to hear what people think. Any suggestions or comments you have, I’d love to hear them.

Thank you for your great plugin BabelZ – Babel Fish. Yahoo Babel Fish auto translator is very good to use. So, this plugin is much helpful for our log traffic.

Just installed onto wp 2.9.1. To make it work I had to edit line 92 of BabelZ.php (‘.babelfish.yahoo.com/free……. I had to remove the dot in front of babelfish.
Thanks!

@tygern8r ; Thanks for letting me know, but that shouldn’t effect anything. It’s the dot for the sub domain. Taking it out should break it…

Ryan,
How to increase the size of the widget in the sidebar?
February 24th, 2010 at 10:42 AM
Yahoo’s JavaScript has no option to increase the size of the widget. If they ever design an API for BabelFish, which is unlikely, then I’ll happily create some custom features for look and size.
There is another BabelFish widget that is a little bit bigger, but will translate text in addition to pages. I’ll add it in the next BabelZ release.
